About the Presentation:
This presentation guides parents through when and why to consider gifted testing and what the assessment process involves from start to finish. Parents will gain clarity on what is actually measured, how to make sense of results, and what they reveal about a child’s learning profile. Parents will leave with practical ways to use this information to support their child's growth, education, and development. The presentation will also touch on how assessment can capture more complex profiles, including potentially twice-exceptional children who are both gifted and have other learning differences.
About the Speaker:
Joanna Chang is a licensed educational psychologist and school psychologist with over 20 years of experience supporting children, teens, and families. She specializes in gifted and twice-exceptional (2e) testing and comprehensive psycho-educational evaluations, helping parents understand and support their child’s unique strengths and needs. With experience across public, private, and gifted education—including serving as a psychologist for the GATE program—she brings deep expertise in learning and development through a strengths-based lens.
An approved psychologist for The Mirman School for Highly Gifted Children, as well as programs such as the Davidson Institute and Nueva School, Joanna is known for her warm, collaborative approach. She partners closely with families to provide clear, actionable guidance and is bilingual in English and Mandarin, supporting diverse families with care and insight.
